OWAG Advisory Board Charter

PurposeThe OWAG (Okanagan Wellness Advocacy Group) Advisory Board exists to support the organization’s mission by offering strategic, culturally competent, and community-informed guidance on operations, policy, legal-ethical accountability, and sustainability. The Board uses a trauma-informed, decolonial, and intersectional lens rooted in community care and survival pending the revolution.

About the positions

Join Us in Cultivating Wellness and Connection: Be a Voice for community, meaningful change, and Collective Healing.

Healthcare & Holistic Wellness Advisor
  • Advise on wellness models that integrate physical, mental, emotional, and spiritual health through both clinical and non-clinical approaches.
  • Support program development rooted in harm reduction, culturally relevant healthcare, and client-defined wellness goals.
  • Collaborate on reducing healthcare access barriers for marginalized clients using trauma-informed and decolonial strategies.
Community & Cultural Wellness Advisor
  • Amplify community voices—especially those impacted by systemic oppression, mental health, and substance use.
  • Provide insight into culturally safe, anti-oppressive, and harm-reduction practices.
  • Support culturally grounded program development and client rights advocacy.
Accountability & Equity Systems Advisor
  • Guide development of systems for internal accountability, disciplinary processes, and conflict resolution.
  • Evaluate organizational practices through an anti-oppression, equity, and transformative justice lens.
  • Collaborate on data-informed evaluations that center community-defined success.
Policy, Finance & Strategy Advisor
  • Oversee alignment of OWAG policies with legal, financial, and ethical standards rooted in social justice.
  • Offer insight into contracts, nonprofit finance, liability, and organizational risk without reinforcing carceral frameworks.
  • Collaborate on equitable and transparent budgeting aligned with OWAG’s mission and values.
